Fish and Chip Shops Start to Re-Open Online
Updated: 23 February, 2024
Fish and chip shops are starting to re-open and many of them are now offering click and collect or click and deliver services.
This follows the current Government advice that takeaways that re-open are encouraged to have a safe pre-ordering system in place.
JJ has supplied 25% of the UK fish and chip sector during the COVID19 crisis
“This means that if you’re desperate for cod and chips, you will need to order it in advance, online or on the phone,” said Chief Operating Officer for JJ Foodservice, Mushtaque Ahmed.
“Furthermore, you can only collect it once you’ve been allocated a slot and your meal is ready,” he added.
The new rules follow an extremely tough few weeks for fish and chip shop operators.
Following the outbreak, many family businesses have had to shut down for the safety of their customers and staff.
But JJ sales figures are showing that the sector is slowly coming back. “Shops are now re-opening, and they are doing it online,” said Ahmed.
“One thing’s for sure”, added Ahmed. “This is a sector with passion and resilience.
“As it slowly begins to get back on its feet, fish and chip shops will continue to be at the hearts of our communities.”
