This week marked International Women’s Day 2021. We wanted to take the opportunity to tell you about some of the great work we’ve been doing to support women at JJ and in the wider foodservice and wholesale industries!
Women in Wholesale – we are founding supporters of WiW – an Award-winning initiative developed in 2016 by a member of JJ staff to support and progress females in wholesale. Read more.
Women in Fish and Chips – In 2020 we launched an educational networking event to support female fish and chip shop owners, a sector we care passionately about. Read more.
Warehouse Women – following a successful ‘Warehouse Women’ recruitment campaign, last year we achieved our target of having 20% female colleagues in our Enfield warehouse. Read more.
Award-Winners – Did you know that you work alongside Award winners? Your female colleagues include winners of FWD Skills & Development Awards and Grocer Gold finalists! Read more.
Breakfast Club – in 2020 we launched a ‘Breakfast Club’ with regular high-profile guest speakers to support and progress women working across the business. Read more.
Industry Mentoring – our Chief Operating Officer, Mushtaque Ahmed, is participating in the Women in Wholesale Speed Mentoring event, to share his lessons on ‘Digital Meeting Skills.’
We recognise that having a diversity of people in our workplace is key to having a successful team. These are just a few of the initiatives we are working on.
Our team has great ambitions to expand these projects to increase the mix of talent in our business to better reflect the customers that we serve.
Happy International Women’s Day!
