We have been in the food distribution business for over two decades. I came into
the industry via a background of running a chain of restaurants in London.
In 1982 my wife and I launched Jenny’s restaurants which we subsequently
built up spanning a large chain of restaurants.
In the mid-eighties I became aware of an opportunity to offer other
independently owned restaurants a complete range of high quality and
competitively priced products, and in 1988 I launched JJ Food Service from a small
warehouse in Hornsey.
My experiences as a restaurateur gave me the insight and knowledge of what JJ
needed to be to meet the needs of its customers. We aim to offer a complete
range of high quality products at competitive prices and at the best possible
service levels. We are committed to continuously innovating and improving our
systems in order to control and reduce costs, and this focus has enabled us to pass
consistent savings to our customers.
In the 20 years since JJ started trading the business world has changed.
Awareness of Climate Change, Renewable Energy Technology and Information
& Communications Technology Advances have seen many unexpected changes.
JJ has embraced the challenges all companies face and prospered in a fast-moving
business environment. That has been the platform on which our growth has been
based.
We have a business model that works – we have grown both sales and profit
at JJ steadily year on year – and we will continue to grow the business in the
coming years.
I am supported here at JJ by some extraordinarily talented individuals, and
the business awards that JJ has won in recent years are testament to their
hard work and dedication.
